The Stover Scholars returned to the Waynesburg University campus on August 22nd for a two day orientation. The orientation schedule began with a meet and greet luncheon with the students to introduce the incoming freshmen. Dr. Stratton led the scholars in a discussion about the U.S. Constitution and an overview of constitutional law. Later in the afternoon, the students started rehearsal for their annual Constitution Day presentation. The scholars were treated to a formal dinner in Alumni Hall where the Rev. James Tinnemeyer was the keynote speaker. Rev. James Tinnemeyer is the Executive Pastor at Shadyside Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Duke University, University of Pittsburgh Law School and Princeton Theological Seminary.

The second day of orientation included a question and answer seminar with other Waynesburg University students on The Biography of Eleanor Roosevelt, a detailed discussion of the essential elements of Christian Ethics and the casting of the Constitution Day play, “Bread, Bakers, and the Constitution!” The Stover Scholars were treated to a second formal dinner and the opportunity to hear Waynesburg University President Timothy R. Thyreen’s insights regarding Christian leadership.
